Rabbit No-Show Proposal (2019) – Approved by Rules Committee as Amendment 6-27-19

If the partner of a rabbit is a no-show, the remaining rabbit will drop back to the first foursome. A two-some from the first foursome will serve as the new rabbits as selected by a flip of the coin. The remaining rabbit will play the individual from the opposing division who is a part of the original foursome. Therefore, if the rabbit is a Mashie, he will play a Niblick opponent and vice versa.

Mystery Golfer Proposal (2018)

Rule: A golfer playing against a no-show shall play against another member in his original foresome (as determined by a flip of a coin) as if the person was his assigned competitor for that week. If two no-shows exist in the foresome, then the golfer shall play against the remaining golfer as if the person was his assigned competitor for that week.

In the unlikely event that there are three no-shows in the original foresome, the golfer shall play against the golfer who is ranked twelfth (12) according to the previous weeks point totals.

The substitute for the absent golfer will retain the points from his scheduled match, but receives no additional benefit from being the substitute for the absent golfer.

Weather Committee Rule (2018)

The Weather Committee (WC) shall be composed of three members and will be selected each year by nomination and election at the Annual Spring Meeting. The WC shall be the sole decision making body for delay or suspension of play due to weather or any other suitable reason. This decision may be made prior to league play or during the course of league play. If a WC member is absent at the regular league start time, the remaining member(s) may appoint league member to bring the total to 3 members.

An individual golfer may not discontinue play unless:

(i) the Weather Committee has delayed or suspended play;

(ii) he believes there is danger from lightning;

(iii) there is some other good reason such as sudden injury or illness.

If the player discontinues play without specific permission from the WC, he must report to the Committee as soon as practicable. If he does so and the Committee considers his reason satisfactory, there is no penalty. And if the Committee finds the reason satisfactory, the player may retain any points earned up to his point of departure. Otherwise, the player will score no points for the evening. His competitor (who remains on the course) will receive any points earned up to the point of his opponent’s departure, as well as, the remaining available points.

Exception: Players discontinuing play by agreement with their match play competitor are not subject to penalty if they complete play the same evening.

When a player discontinues play of a hole, he may lift his ball, without penalty, only if the WC has suspended play, or there is a good reason to lift it. Before lifting the ball the player must mark its position using a marker or tee. Exception: In the case of lightening, players should immediately leave the course.

Tee Selection by Member Rule (2015)

League members may choose to play from the gold tees at their own discretion if the following criteria are met:

1.  Member must be 65 years of age or older during the league year and have a handicap on the white course above 12.

2. Member must play from the gold tees for the entire season and will use the handicap established on the gold tees.  NOTE: If special nights warrant play from another tee box (e.g., black tee night), the member will do so.

3. Member may change back to the white tees for the next season, if he so desires.

4. To assure fairness for the first three weeks of play, the member will subtract one stroke from his handicap on the white tees, until his new handicap is established on the gold tees.

5. The above rules do not apply to subs.
